I am a lifelong language learner and a restless traveler, based in San Francisco. I have been teaching ESL for three decades, on both coasts of the U.S., and in Japan, Indonesia, Guatemala and Hungary, and have studied eight different languages. I am currently teaching at City College of San Francisco, where I have taught all levels of Credit and Non-Credit ESL at seven different campuses.
In 2007, I took my first trip to India, where I led Communicative English workshops to youth from the Dalit/caste-oppressed community. In 2008, I founded a non-profit, Jai Bhim International, and I served as volunteer Creative Director, for 14 years traveling to Kerala one month every year to lead workshops with our India-based team at the school that we started, Lokuttara Leadershp Academy, as well as our special girls' program, Blossom Projects.
I am ordained as a Dhammacharini in The Triratna Buddhist Order and my name means "Gesture of Compassion".
